Hello everyone,
I understand that we have recently re-enlivened this list after it had been dormant for about two years. It's understandable if you feel a need to unsubscribe, though of course we'd love for you to stick around!
Please sign in on the list's Info page in order to unsubscribe: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/glam
Thank you! Lori

While the intention is well-meaning, existing data and personal experience suggests that this advice does not change the frequency of "please unsubscribe me!"-emails in any way.
The most appropriate response is cut&paste of the sender's email address and enterin it into the form at https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/glam yourself, then clicking "unsubscribe". The person will receive a confirmation email in order to unsubscribe.
It is the least time-consuming, least meta-discussion-triggering and most service-minded response I am aware of.

I did so for Amber, Ryan and Stephen.

And Paul.
There is no reason list admins should bother with this if people are so lazy they cant even see the bottom of each email has an unsubscribe link and spam the whole list with their "request". Infact, anyone who sends such a "request" to the list should be banned from sending further emails to the list. They would ofcourse continue receiving emails until they follow the unsubscribe link ;)

Well, you're free to apply this policy to the list you admin :)
I think the current policy of helping unsubscribers is better.
Cheers,
fyi, this should also work as an alternative to using the web page to unsubscribe:
from mailman FAQ:
Open a mail program which sends mail from the address you want to unsubscribe. Send a mail to the list unsubscribe address, which will be of the form LISTNAME-leave@DOMAIN. The subject and body of this message will be ignored, so it doesn't matter what you put there.
so you may tell people they can just do this via a mail to glam-leave@lists.wikimedia.org
cheers,
the mailman server admin
Please unsubscribe me from this list as well.
