Hi all,
Citation hunt is a really great tool for the campaign! Its a powerful opportunity to make the contribution of a citation, a fun game -- with simplified discovery of citations that have the "citation needed" tag within a wiki. We can localize the tool for any language wiki, so if it hasn't been localized for community -- please let me know or follow the instructions in the coordination email, to localize it for your community!
Citation hunt can also be used as part of outreach events beyond #1lib1ref, and I would really encourage everyone on this list become familiar with it: it allows a very fundamental part of maintaining quality on Wikipedia (referencing), to become a fun game that most audiences enjoy.
Cheers,
Alex

I'm not sure if this was already mentioned in the 1Lib1Ref documentation, but I happened to come across the Citation Hunt tool, this might be handy for 1Lib1Ref

Hi GLAM and Library Wikimedians,
This is a reminder that #1lib1ref organizing and outreach should start happening soon, especially with the New Year/holiday season coming up. If you want to help do outreach or coordination in your region or language context, but did not receive the organizing email below please let me know. We are available to answer questions and consult on developing local iterations and instances of the campaign in your context!
Cheers,
Alex Stinson

Hello #1lib1ref Wikimedia organizers!
You are getting this email if you expressed interest in organizing #1lib1ref this year, or supported organizing in previous years!
#1lib1ref will launch January 16! We’ll ask librarians to celebrate Wikipedia’s birthday by adding one reference to Wikipedia.
This is the third year we will be running the campaign ( see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Lessons if you want to learn from previous years).
Updating content
#1lib1ref is an opportunity to highlight the intimate and growing relationship between Wikipedia and libraries. We know librarians use Wikipedia for a variety of purposes, but specifically focusing on how our references work helps librarians and those they work with understand and enter our community -- and in turn educate their patrons about our community . If you would like to coordinate #1lib1ref in your area, here are the main steps:
Begin outreach to you contact list for allies or partners you think would be interested in #1lib1ref this year. We find that working with regional library network organizations helps a lot. You may consider contacting important partners, who can help you communicate during the campaign now: to help them prepare blog posts, or other communications for the campaigns. Examples from previous years can be found at: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1 Ref/Press/2017 https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib 1Ref/Press/2017 and https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/ 1Lib1Ref/Press/2016
Review Citation Hunt -- Check if your language is supported in the top right for citation hunt: https://tools.wmflabs.org/citationhunt/ / https://citationhunt.org
If you want to translate into new language, please do so at: https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:CitationHunt https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Translating:CitationHunt 2.
Once you have a language translated (or discover a bug or needed change), request support at: https://github.com/eggpi/ citationhunt/issues
Review Hashtag Tracking --Hashtag tracking is an important part of demonstrating the impact of the campaign. Make sure your language is supported:
URL: https://tools.wmflabs.org/hashtags
Report bugs or request features or language support: https://github.com/hatnote/hashtags/issues/new https://github.com/hatnote/hashtags/issues/new
Get to know the campaign pages (see list after the signature), and translate pages you need in your local language. Feel free to customize or modify the pages in your language to better meet the needs of your local community. Please let Jessamyn (cc'ed) or myself know if there are improvements for campaign pages in your language.
We look forward to collaborating with you! Thanks so much for your help—it should be a lot of fun, and we can’t do this project without you!
If you have any questions please respond to this email, and we will make sure to help you find that support!
Best,
Alex Stinson
