Dear Wikimedians,
Thank you for your patience. With careful consideration of the ongoing COVID-19
pandemic <https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/summary.html>, we have
made a decision to cancel the physical WikiCite Satellite New Delhi. We are
in contact with the Wikimedia Foundation, they support this decision and
are ready and flexible to support any follow-up actions. We will shift the
format of the conference to online discussions and presentations and will
be postponing this virtual event to the next month. The format and the
dates of this virtual event would be determined by the Program Committee in
collaboration with presenters.
We are disappointed that we won’t be able to collaborate in person but the
safety of the conference participants is our highest priority and we look
forward to engaging with you in our virtual program. We will be in touch
soon with further plans and next steps for participating.
Thank you for your understanding. Please direct any questions to
info(a)openheritagefoundation.org.
On behalf of Open Heritage Foundation
Kind regards,
Hardarshan

Hi folks!
As part of the process of building the Open GLAM Declaration between
Creative Commons and the Wikimedia Foundation, we're releasing some
research we have been doing lately. You can access it here:
https://medium.com/open-glam/research-papers-for-open-glam-informing-the-de…
We also have put together this form: https://forms.gle/kfDxoYSv71Hp67T3A so
you can submit the resources that you find inspiring. These might include:
articles that have made you rethink the way you manage traditional
knowledge; videos that help you formulate arguments to convince your
institution to adopt Open Access policies; talks that raise awareness about
releasing collections portraying people; or papers that help you build a
case inside your institution of the value added to interoperable
collections. It can even be slideshows!
If you have more than one resource and you would like to share these
directly, please just send us an email at info [at] openglam.org
We especially welcome resources in languages other than English! We expect
to have the Declaration prepared in at least five other languages, so any
supporting documents in other languages to help make the case would be very
beneficial.
You can read more about the process for the Open GLAM Declaration here:

Hello,
Some time ago, I started to gather information regarding existing and
planned tutorials for Wikimedia which are in a video or interactive format.
Initially this information was on Meta in a place which was difficult to
find. I moved the content to
https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/NavWiki/External_Resources. I hope that
this will be a helpful starting place for anyone who is looking for
existing or planned tutorial resources. Also, if someone creates or updates
a tutorial, I hope that they will update the information on that page.
The tutorials may cover topics for Wikipedia, Wikidata, and other Wikimedia
projects.
Currently, resources are listed which are in German, Spanish, Serbian,
Hebrew, and English. Also, I believe that the Arabic language tutorials
which are currently listed in the section for unfinished resources have
been completed, and I am planning to reach out to request an update
regarding the status of those resources.
Ever onward,

with 21st century technology, to engage the world in creating new
knowledge. Post-docs interested in pursuing research and improving the
public’s access to the Smithsonian are encouraged to apply.
In no particular order, independent research through the 2020 James Smithson
Fellowship might relate but not be limited to topics such as:

Purpose:
The James Smithson Fellowship Program was created to offer early career
opportunities for post-doctoral researchers interested in gaining a better
understanding about the interplay between scholarship and public policy
through a Smithsonian lens. While this fellowship provides an immersion
experience working with Smithsonian researchers and relevant collections,
it also affords fellows a hands-on opportunity to explore relationships
between research and public policy through direct interaction with Smithsonian
leaders, and with policy leaders throughout the Washington, DC network.
The program is designed for a new generation of leaders, who seek an
experience that leverages both scholarly and practical expertise in an
environment of innovation like no other. The goals of the James Smithson
Fellowship Program provide fellows with the opportunity to:
- Conduct scholarly research at the Smithsonian

Registration announcement
LD4 Conference on Linked Data in Libraries: May 13-14, 2020
Preconference workshops: May 12, 2020
Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA
Registration starts: Wednesday, March 4
Stipend application deadline: Sunday, March 15
Registration deadline: Friday, April 17
We're excited to announce that registration for the 2020 LD4 Conference will open on Wednesday, March 4th. Join us May 13-14 at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA to learn concrete ways that linked data benefits GLAM institutions, and discover pathways to participation in linked data. Please visit the conference web site (ld4.io)<http://ld4.io> for more details. Wikimedians are most warmly welcome to attend and participate in this conference!
Whether you have already implemented linked data in your work or are just getting started, you will leave with a better understanding of what linked data is, how it can be used, and what you can do to get started or continue to incorporate linked data in your institutions or projects. By bringing together a broad range of perspectives, and centering diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethics in our discussions, we will create a community of practice for linked data in libraries.
We are delighted to have Karen Hwang as our conference kick-off speaker. Karen's practice as a metadata professional and archivist is rooted in concerns of discoverability and representation. She works to promote underrepresented histories through digital collections, and has explored ways to implement linked open data to enhance and boost the discovery of cultural heritage resources. Other program highlights include, "Workshopping Queeries: Linked Data Vocabularies and Ethical Cataloging," "Where Linked Data Can Impact User Experience: Findings from a Study on Discovery Workflows," "'I don't think I'll ever understand linked data': How to Teach Linked Data to Our Colleagues," and "Linking bilingual bibliographic data: a Wikidata-based project of Chinese writers' archival collections."
A $100 registration fee will help to cover conference expenses and will include food and beverages during morning and afternoon breaks as well as a lunch buffet for both conference days, May 13th and 14th. There will not be an additional registration fee for pre-conference workshops on March 12th. Thanks to the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a limited number of stipends<https://sites.google.com/stanford.edu/ld42020/stipends> will be available to make participation possible for those who would not otherwise be able to attend.
We hope that you'll join us! Please visit conference web site (ld4.io)<http://ld4.io> for more information. We'll send out another message on Wednesday when registration opens.
For questions about the LD4 Conference, please contact the conference co-chairs at ld4conf_chairs(a)googlegroups.com<mailto:ld4conf_chairs@googlegroups.com>
