Registration announcement LD4 Conference on Linked Data in Libraries: May 13-14, 2020 Preconference workshops: May 12, 2020 Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA Registration starts: Wednesday, March 4 Stipend application deadline: Sunday, March 15 Registration deadline: Friday, April 17 We're excited to announce that registration for the 2020 LD4 Conference will open on Wednesday, March 4th. Join us May 13-14 at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA to learn concrete ways that linked data benefits GLAM institutions, and discover pathways to participation in linked data. Please visit the conference web site (ld4.io)<http://ld4.io> for more details. Wikimedians are most warmly welcome to attend and participate in this conference! Whether you have already implemented linked data in your work or are just getting started, you will leave with a better understanding of what linked data is, how it can be used, and what you can do to get started or continue to incorporate linked data in your institutions or projects. By bringing together a broad range of perspectives, and centering diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethics in our discussions, we will create a community of practice for linked data in libraries. We are delighted to have Karen Hwang as our conference kick-off speaker. Karen's practice as a metadata professional and archivist is rooted in concerns of discoverability and representation. She works to promote underrepresented histories through digital collections, and has explored ways to implement linked open data to enhance and boost the discovery of cultural heritage resources. Other program highlights include, "Workshopping Queeries: Linked Data Vocabularies and Ethical Cataloging," "Where Linked Data Can Impact User Experience: Findings from a Study on Discovery Workflows," "'I don't think I'll ever understand linked data': How to Teach Linked Data to Our Colleagues," and "Linking bilingual bibliographic data: a Wikidata-based project of Chinese writers' archival collections." A $100 registration fee will help to cover conference expenses and will include food and beverages during morning and afternoon breaks as well as a lunch buffet for both conference days, May 13th and 14th. Hello everyone, We are studying Digital Humanities for our Master Degree at the Centre d'Études Supérieures de la Renaissances (Université de Tours). As part of the master’s program, we would like to learn more and discuss about digital humanities projects related to the following four aspects: Projects in digital humanities regarding GLAM, especially museology and virtual exhibitions of photographs Projects, with or without digital tools, about working-class and immigrants districts in the big cities of the 20th and 21st centuries all around the world (not just Europe). Tools for using mind maps or topic maps as a navigation system on a website or examples of websites using such navigation systems Some feedbacks on 3D technologies used to create virtual exhibition spaces (e.g. Blender, Unity, three.js, nunuStudio ) In addition, would some of you have specialized mailing lists on cultural and digital mediation that could be recommended to us? WikiCite Satellite Conference India 2020

Hello everyone, With great pleasure, we would like to invite you to the WikiCite Satellite Event hosted by the Open Heritage Foundation in New Delhi on April 18,19 2020. Wikicite is a Wikimedia event to develop open citations and linked bibliographic data to serve free knowledge. The Wikimedia community and the GLAM institutions need to understand the dynamics of open bibliographic data better and how it can be scaled proactively with Wikimedia projects and other open-source platforms that are involved in open data. This event will be aimed at addressing the prevalent gap between Wikidata and Wikisource integration for works and their consecutive items. The format and structure of the event would have open calls for collaborators/presenters/participants. The event will be of 2 days and the attendance would be around 15-25 people, including, the stakeholders working with GLAM institutions, Wikisourcers, and Wikidatans interested in bibliographical data. The scholarships and registrations are open from February 26, 2020 and close on March 15, 2020. We also invite the community members to submit proposals for sessions. The date for submissions starts from February 26, 2020 and close on March 11, 2020. The submissions will be taken into account for prioritizing the candidates for scholarships. We look forward to welcoming you to New Delhi in April with the collaborative spirit of this year’s Wikimania theme ‘Sharing knowledge brings people together’ and ‘Power of Diverse Collaboration’.
