Today WMF Community Tech launched the big upgrade to Event Metrics I’ve been talking about in recent moths. This is the answer to last year’s #3 Community Wishlist wish. With this release, event organizers get many new metrics and powerful new features for measuring event participation, contributions and impact. Please try it; all you need is a wiki login. [1]
The sooner people give Event Metrics a spin the better. Right now, CommTech is on assignment to fix Event Metrics problems. We’re open for bug business. But such is the nature of our team that in a few weeks we’ll move on to start granting our next Wishlist wish.
Consider the program in beta right not; we tested it but are bound to have missed things. So please have a look and tell us what's broken, what's confusing and what you love! Here’s the talk page for your comments. [2]

Wikimedia Sverige is proud to be the recipient of three new grants totaling
around USD 500,000. We hope to work with many of you as part of these
projects. If you are interested in getting involved or receiving updates
please let me know.
Furthermore, the chapter also has a new heavily subsidized agreement for
our office space.
Project 1: Wikispeech – The Speech Data Collector
The first project is a continuation of the Wikispeech[1] project, a
text-to-speech (TTS) system that converts written text into speech. From
September 2019 to April 2021 we aim to finalize building the MediaWiki
extension and to build tools to collect speech data to add pronunciations
to Wikipedia, Wiktionary and Wikidata and to add more languages to the
text-to-speech solution. The tools should also be possible to use for oral
citations.
The work happens in partnership with the Royal Technical Institute, STTS (a
language processing company), Mozilla Foundation, Wikimedia Deutschland and
the Swedish Dyslexia Association.
As always, you can find the full application on our wiki (in Swedish):

Project 2: Wikipedia in Libraries
>From 2019 to 2020 Wikimedia Sverige, together with the National Library of
Sweden, will develop an online training module for Swedish librarians
focused around free knowledge and the Wikimedia platforms. This will be a
mandatory training for all of Sweden's 5,000 public librarians. Our hope is
to give all of them a basic understanding of the Wikimedia projects, as
well as to complement the online training with advanced courses for the
most dedicated. The advanced courses will give them the tools to ongoingly
organize activities and events independently at their libraries across the
country.
Furthermore, the librarians will be engaged in the #1Lib1Ref and
FindingGLAMs campaigns.
There is a great potential to receive continuous funding over the coming 3
years if successful.
As always, you can find the full application on our wiki (in Swedish):
https://se.wikimedia.org/wiki/Projekt:Wikipedia_i_biblioteken_2019/Ansökan
Project 3: Bibliographical data on Wikidata
We continue our work to include bibliographical data on Wikidata. The
project details are still being negotiated with the funder. The project
will start in mid-2019 and last until 2020.
Cost reduction
Starting from March 2019 we have a new agreement in place for a heavily
subsidized coworking space office from the Swedish Internet Foundation.
Through the agreement we will save us around USD 30,000 per year compared
to when we had an office of our own.
We have received this generous subsidy because Wikipedia is considered so
important for the infrastructure of the Internet. We are very happy that
the agreement does not have an end date and that we have the possibility to
grow significantly over time as well (while keeping the generous subsidy).

Hello everyone,
One of the main features of Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons, the
'Depicts' statements, is close to being released on Wikimedia Commons.
It can now be tested on Test-Commons. Please take a look, and leave
feedback! See Keegan's message below for links to more information.
Warmly, Sandra

Greetings,
Depicts statements are ready for testing before release to Commons.
Detailed testing information is posted on Commons [1]. You can find a more
detailed announcement about testing on Commons as well [2].
Thanks, see you on the wikis.

How Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums work with Wikimedia
communities: https://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/GLAM
Dear all,
I thank you for your efforts. On March 19, 2009, I decided to create my Wikimedia account. Nowadays, it is 10 years since I became a Wikimedian. During these years, I contributed to many Wikimedia-related projects including Library outreach. Knowing that most library outreach methods developed by Wikimedia and Libraries User Group and GLAM-Wiki are not adapted to user group-led thematic projects, we created a library outreach method for user groups. After a successful pilot trial of our method in Tunisia, we will be honoured if our method will be applied on a larger scale. Further information can be found in https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikimedia_TN_-_Library_Outreach.pdf.
Yours Sincerely,
Houcemeddine Turki (he/him)

Hi Avery,
You might be interested in my final report from the previous grant, which
is at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:IEG/Motivational_and_educational_vid…
.
I was not planning to publish the referencing videos to YouTube, but I
think that's a good idea. Do you have any suggestions about how to make the
videos be easy for people to find if they search for Wikipedia help with
referencing on Youtube? If so, I would be appreciative if you'd add those
comments to the project talk page at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants_talk:Project/Rapid/Pine/Continuation…
.
Accessibility and translation are very much in my mind as I'm working on
the current script. An issue to keep in mind is that the various language
editions of Wikipedia have variations in policies and workflows, so
translation alone may be insufficient to adapt a video or tutorial from one
language edition of Wikipedia to another language edition of Wikipedia.
I like the interactive nature of the Wiki Ed tutorial. WMF's Growth Team is
developing in-context help, which I think is also a good method for
teaching. My guess is that the optimal ways to teach how to edit Wikipedia
will be a combination of methods including video, interactive tutorials
possibly with quizzes and certifications, in-context help, and
individualized help. As an example of how the methods could be blended, I
think that in-context help could offer video tutorials of varying lengths
to cover certain subjects.
Thanks for the comments.

Subject: [Wikidata] New data type: musical notation with Lilypond format
To: Discussion list for the Wikidata project. <wikidata(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hello all,
Following a request from community members, we just deployed a new data
type called “Musical Notation” in order to store musical notation in
Wikidata. Property creators can now find this new data type in the list and
create new properties with it.
A property with musical notation data type will display the notation in
Lilypond <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q195946> format, using the score
extension <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Score>.
For example, if you enter this code as a value: \relative c' { c d e f | g2
g | a4 a a a | g1 |}, it will be displayed as a score:
[image: Screenshot musical notation Wikidata 1.png]
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Screenshot_musical_notation_Wikidat…>
The score also appears on the diff pages.
[image: Screenshot musical notation Wikidata 2.png]
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Screenshot_musical_notation_Wikidat…>
The existing property LilyPond notation (P5482)
<https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P5482> is used on around 300 items
<https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3AWhatLinksHere&target=P…>.
If you need any help from the developers to change the datatype of the the
property or to migrate the content, please let me know.
One bug is already known and we’re working on fixing it: if the score is
long, it gets out of the statement box and overlaps with the edit button.
If you encounter any issue, feel free to create a subtask of this ticket
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T208489>.
Cheers,
