So then where does one go for those constant, insidious low level sexist comments that don't quite make it to WP:Ani level...

Presumably one would make a list of them and either start an RfC/U or an ANI report showing the pattern. Either of those options is more likely to end in something being done than a WQA alert.

I edited Wikipedia for almost 3 years before I felt confidant enough to go to any noticeboard at all, not to mention ANI. Still haven't done an RfC user, and I have had some incredible provocation. Wikietiquette Alert maybe the kind of first step many would feel comfortable with. CM
