Re: Hairdresser
1. It's now the number one hit when you Google "hairdresser" and the second (behind the general Wikipedia category) for "hairdressing"
2. Nice to see the numbers grow after the article was re-instated and written: http://stats.grok.se/en/201109/Hairdresser
Of course, you compare it to barber :X http://stats.grok.se/en/201109/Barber

We have developed another tool, Wikitrip. On Wikitrip, you can see the edits performed on every page of Wikipedia over time and you can see the geolocation of edits (for anonymous editors) and you can see how many edits were performed by male and female Wikipedians (for registered users who specified their *gender* in the preferences)
For example, the page Hairdresser has been edited more by females than males and it is very hard to find pages edited more by (self-identified in the preferences as such) women. (Of course this page is not one of the most edited ones so the difference between 17 and 18 edits is not very meaningful per se).
See https://sonetlab.fbk.eu/wikitrip/#%7Cen%7CHairdresser
On Wikitrip you can also check the equivalent page on every other language Wikipedia! Just use the dropdown menu.
I'd love to hear your feedback about WikiTrip! ;)
I used Wikitrip recently, after reading about it in the Signpost. It's addictive, and generally depressing when you see that men edit most the articles about women.
Hairdresser is weird because it "disappeared" for quite sometime while being a redirect to barber, so I'm not sure if it's the best example..
Regardless, the majority of the articles I look at (Feminism, Woman, Women's rights, pretty standard stuff) are usually 95% male identifying editors.
One complaint about the app - when I go to click on the specific "regional" demographics, a little window pops up stating how many users have contributed from that area, and there is an "X" to exit that box, I keep clicking the box and it won't close (so I can't view other regional statistics). :D
Thanks for developing this tool!
