Dear all,
I've been working my way through Wikidata items of people listed as authors of scientific articles for a while, as explained at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Women_scientists#Mo... .
One of the issues beyond my capacity here is how to make sure the gender of these people is properly recorded via P21. The current backlog for that stands at over 1000 items [1], and in what I have done so far, I did not see a way to take into account non-binary gender scales.
Another issue is that even in those cases where P21 has been set, there is often (even for highly cited scientists ) very little additional information about these people, as highlighted by a related query (for female authors) that also looks at occupation (P106) [2].
Any help in addressing the backlog for [1] or in filling the gaps in relation to queries like [2] would be appreciated, both on an ad-hoc basis and especially by way of more long-term workflows.
Thanks and cheers,
Daniel
