Hey all,
Over recent months I have uploaded around 150,000 photos from high value Flickr streams, and as I go through the uploads cleaning them up I am coming across photos of many notable females (politics, social activists, diplomatic, etc) that should probably have articles on our projects, but which don't exist. I have written many an article based purely on the notion of us having freely licenced media available, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested if I wrote up a list of these missing articles that people might like to look at writing up.
Cheers,
Russavia
This list would be very helpful. I would share it with many librarians.

Hey all,
In relation to my suggestion a couple of weeks ago, here's a short list of notable women who should have articles, but don't, and for which we have photos.
* Fatimat Seye Sylla (Senegalese internet) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fatimata_Seye_Sylla_(3347287078).jpg - http://icannwiki.com/index.php/Fatimata_Seye_Sylla - http://www.genderit.org/articles/fatimata-seye-sylla-not-have-others-speakin...
* Albina Ruiz (Peruvian environmental/social activist) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:A_Recycler_with_Albina_Ruiz,_Presiden... and http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Family_Portrait_Ciudad_Saludable_(688... - http://www.pbs.org/opb/thenewheroes/meet/ruiz.html
* Ibukun Odusote (Nigerian senior public servant and internet) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ibukun_Odusote_(3347121979).jpg - http://ibukunodusote.org/content/about-me - http://www.fmard.gov.ng/index.php/who-we-are/principal-officers/permanent-se...
* Mary Uduma (Nigerian internet) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mary_Uduma_(3346479827).jpg - http://icannwiki.com/index.php/Mary_Uduma
* Marion Williams (Barbadian economist/Barbadian ambassador) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Marion_Williams,_Permanent_Representa... - http://www.centralbank.org.bb/aboutUs/about_drwilliams.shtml
* Deborah Elms (American economist and Academic in Singapore) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Deborah_Kay_Elms_(9245462909).jpg - http://sg.linkedin.com/pub/deborah-elms/32/195/9
* Anneke Van Woudenberg (Human rights activist/researcher) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Anneke_Van_Woudenberg,_Senior_Researc... - http://www.hrw.org/bios/anneke-van-woudenberg
* Anabel González (Costa Rican trade minister) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:H.E._Ms._Anabel_Gonz%C3%A1lez,_Minist... - http://www.wto.org/english/news_e/news12_e/biography_anabel_gonzalez_costari...
* Dorcas Makgato-Malesu (Batswana government minister) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dorcas_Makgato-Malesu_(6955788966)_(c... - http://www.mti.gov.bw/content/minister-makgato-malesu-profile
* Athalia Molokomme (Batswana Attorney-General) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Athalia_Molokomme,_Attorney_General_f... - http://www.debswana.com/About%20Debswana/Board%20of%20Directors/Pages/Dr%20A...
* Siti Kassim (Comorian Minister of Labour, Vocational Training and Women's Empowerment) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Siti_Kassim_(7101861855)_(cropped).jp...
* Machiko Nissanke (School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Prof._Machiko_Nissanke,_School_of_Ori... - http://www.soas.ac.uk/staff/staff31524.php
* Mannete Ramaili (Basotho government minister and diplomat) - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mannete_Ramaili,_Minister_of_Tourism,...
As one can see from this list, if articles for these women are created, not only will it help to lessen the "gender gap" in articles, but will also help some of the WP:BIAS that is prevalent on the projects in terms of "western" people being more likely to have articles than those from outside the "western world".
Additionally, having photos, and a well written article, might be encouragement to have them featured at WP:DYK (on the front page), which will also help bring women of the world, and their achievements, to a wider audience -- which I guess is part of the reason for this group.
If anyone's interested, I can continue to expand on this list with suggestions; just let me know.
Cheers,
Russavia

Great to have this list, Russavia! I'd suggest putting the list on-wiki.
The "requested articles" list would be a natural place, e.g. for EN perhaps bios by profession: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles/Biography/By_profe... and you could link to the photos at the same time.
In case there are plentiful sources (e.g. there's a book-length biography) or notability is otherwise obvious, adding a stub with the reference, photo, and 2 or 3 sentences would be a good start.

Russavia is indefinitely blocked on enwiki, so perhaps recommending he post this is not the best solution. However, anyone else can feel free to add what they believe is relevant information to the project.

I have begun adding more images and redlinks to articles at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Russavia#WP:BIAS_and_gender_gap -- more will be added as I come across images.
Two articles from my previous list have already been created, and one was seen at DYK. So I am glad the list is proving somewhat useful.
I might make a suggestion that the Madeleine Rees article be made a gender gap priority, for she has an interesting story and was the inspiration for a character in the film The Whistleblower. With enough work it could easily be a GA/FA, and her story is right up this lists alley. A good start would be getting it up as a DYK first.
Cheers
