Hi everyone,
A few of us came together on the WikiWomen's History Month page to
create a "List of Lists of Women" on English Wikipedia. Plenty of red
links throughout the lists included, and yes everything is covered
involving women! Even women pirates...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_lists_of_women
I know we'd love to see a similar collection in other languages, and use
them as tools for figuring out what other lists need to be created, but
also what articles need to be made.
Also, please take a look at our English WikiWomen's History Page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiWomen's_History_Month
We have more events that have been added, so please get involved, online
or offline! There are also discussions on the talk page.
Looking forward to seeing some great things happen in March,
Sarah

Wikipedia colleagues,
I want to work within the accepted range of who rises to the level of notable women. The historical problem of women in the news less, and quoted and cited less, is still an issue. I want to mention an important figure, who may otherwise stay out of the news. Please see her page - Michelle Clayman.
While Ms. Clayman is in investments, and for that reason may stay out of the limelight, without her philanthropy at the Clayman Institute for Gender Studies, an amazing body of research may have never happened. The scale is global, and her funding support includes game-changing and paradigm-upending research such as "The Motherhood Penalty" and a number of projects focused abroad. Ms. Clayman should (NPOV) be noted for providing the framework, funding, and vision to support research on women's struggles. I've gone ahead and marked the page as a Stanford wiki and/or women's history project; links to the Institute and additional activities are a good idea.

@Beria
I'm not clear what point you are trying to prove, other than the 9% of
"girls'" voices don't matter. I also find it questionable that you refer to
women as girls and don't hesitate ponder why you don't call men boys.
Many women, like myself, get driven off of WP due to frustration with the
hierarchy, which does exist. Women are treated with less respect, women are
questioned for their motives, women are called prudish if they object to
sexualizing images--or they are told their voices are not important because
they only comprise 9% of the population.
Why do you think they only comprise 9% then?
My goal on WP is to make it more diverse, and TBH I'm not too into this
picture discussion that has gone on for months. But it doesn't mean that it
doesn't matter or it isn't an important one, and it doesn't mean that the
women who care about it aren't important.
Offense is not the reason here, IMO. Offense barely scratches the surface. I
can imagine that many of the people on this list are angry--they are angry
that women are being objectified and because women are in the minority on
the community and it's an uninviting, sometimes terribly creepy atmosphere,
their voices do not matter.
As for badly written? My god that is the worst you can say? In writing terms
that is just snide and a low blow. Basically, only someone who can think of
no other insult would say this. "Well it's badly written and has spelling
mistakes!" Come on, get a fucking life.
Wikipedia is set up so that only people who look for these articles/pictures
will know about voting procedures. So of course if there is a vote, the
majority would probably be overall positive unless serious canvassing went
on to let people who care about the other side know about it so it evens
out. Canvassing is set up to prevent this--I believe it's actually a way of
biasing the community to serve only the community, and not the readers.
Because the readers are--the world. Telling people about the topic is just
like how any election goes. I guess unless you are in some sort of fake
election where people are led to believe that their votes actually count.
Nowhere did you prove that she lied in that article. You only stated how you
disagree with her opinion. Obviously you are not part of this group for the
interest of women, otherwise you would care about that 9%'s opinion---so why
are you subscribing???

Hi all;
Is there any up-to-date statistical tools monitoring gender gap? I have
started this basic one[1], and I'm thinking about an analysis of
male-female biographies ratio between Wikipedias.
Suggestions and links to tools are welcome.

Bonjour
I above all want to thank Laura Hale for his work. My feelings are shared for the project Women's sport. At the beginning I believed in a real sports Women community. But each is taken in the different sport (ffotball, hockey, ...)and in its region (Australia, England, Canada). Thus there is not enough solidarity between us. A male americain contributor caused me many concerns on the Women's ici hockey in the United States. No solidarity of my main Canadian associate (user Maple Leaf) brought me towards a resignation: I withdrew from the project. It would have been fanstatique that the women have a sports gratitude and recognition but I believe that it interresse only 1 or 2 persons on thousands of contributors, I believe that soon I shall leave Wikipedized. I see not many advantages for the Women ice Hockey and for me as the reporter in formation. However I shall give some photos (via my wiki commons) of competitions of Canadian Women ice hockey
In French now: Je veux avant tout remercier Laura Hale pour tout son travail. Mes sentiments
Hi everyone,
I'm really happy to see that Wikiproject India (in English Wikipedia)
has taken up a new initiative spearheaded by User:Ashlin.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_India/Women_and_gender_i…
Perhaps you'll feel the urge to participate, or maybe find inspiration
in this and create your own task force for a project you participate in.
Very cool stuff!
