I very much hope so.
But right now... what we need is to review the articles so as to avoid keeping obvious and stupid mistakes in the biographies before translation.
And to make sure the English versions are ok, because I suspect most people would be more likely to translate from English rather than other language.
Quality of articles vary A LOT. Initially, I thought we could find 16 articles about african women of good quality. Well... no.... not so. I searched a lot. There are hardly any GA articles about African women. Half of the current GA ones were done this year.
So the articles are a mix of GA articles and articles of lesser quality but interesting nevertheless. Either not translated in many languages or most versions being stubs.

This is a brilliant idea. I believe the content translation tool would be extremely useful for this.[1]

In about a week, we will launch a friendly "translate-a-thon" effort on 16 biographies of African women so that they get translated in "as many languages as possible" (at least 16).
In the meanwhile, we need your help to "improve/polish" the ENGLISH Wikipedia version of the biographies selected (as it is likely to be the "master" of most translations). #16wikiwomen
