Already 1507 articles have been destubbed ! Huge achievement. But we
could do even better with your help.
There are 2 weeks left and we are currently at 75% of our goal. Please
help make that grey/white achievement bar entirely grey !

Dear All
maybe I overlooked something but I miss some specific informations
about the WikiIndaba in Accra.
1. I see from the page
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiIndaba_conference_2017
that applications have opened on 13 Nov, open until 30 Nov.
QUESTION: who has to apply for what? by doing what?
2. Submissions to be sent Nov 13 - Dec 15
QUESTION: what topics? Form? what kind of slots? Where to fit into which
programme?
3. Participants to be announced on Dec 20
REMARK: Is that not a bit late? I have to apply for visum and I do not
expect embassies to do much work in second half of December into
beginning of January.
Apperciate any hint for infos I overlooked. In my case participation
depends on travel assistance. When can I know about that?
Cheers

Hello guys
A quick update on the status of Wiki Loves Africa
Financials
Money has been sent last week to all countries.
Egypt confirmed it received it.
Nigeria has reported not having received the money yet (Shola, Elisabeth
got the proof of paiement, she will forward it tomorrow)
Algeria and Cameroun payements have been rejected. The first because the
bank can not receive funds in dollars (hmm), the second because the bank
data was incorrect (hmm)... talk to Elisabeth...
Thibault will check tomorrow if other payements have been rejected
(hopefully none others)
---> I would recommand all teams to confirm us as soon as possible when
the money has been received.
Pages on Commons
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Africa_2016
Most are done. Only missing information is ... prizes... we will add
them this week.
We are trying to get additional funding for more exciting gifts but
that's tough...
Website
Some enlightened people might notice the website has not been updated to
reflect this year.
There are several reasons for this, but bottom line... we will not use
the website this year. Only the Commons pages and blogs.
Site notice
The basics are done. For the curious ones:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Wiki_Loves_Africa_templates
I'll send a call next week for messages translations.
Local events and media pages
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Africa_2016/Local_eve…https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Africa_2016/Media
If you have not yet visited those pages, please do and make sure the
social media handles, press contact etc. are correct.
Design
Yes, marketing documents are under work. Roll up, poster, leaflets,
emailer, tee shirt, stickers.
Last week, Isla told me they would be ready this week-end or early this
week.
Problem is that I can not check... I just got in Cape Town and the
internet at the hotel is... argg.
We'll send an update about it tomorrow.
Cheers
Flo

Dear all
I'm working on the Connected Open Heritage
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Connected_Open_Heritage> project which
aims to improve and create knowledge about the built cultural heritage
especially built heritage in danger of several countries around the world.
The project is a collaboration between Wikimedia Sweden, Wikimedia Italia,
UNESCO and Cultural Heritage without Borders.
The aims of the project are:
- Creating a worldwide list of built heritage registers
- Adding national registers of built heritage to Wikidata (among other
things this will help people to run Wiki Loves Monuments more easily by
preparing the list of sites for you).
- Adding images from partner organisations to Commons
We would very much like people from all over the world to be involved, you
can take part by:
1. Adding information to countries to the List of Heritage Registers
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_heritage_registers> article.
2. Adding information about potential partner organisations who may have
images of built heritage in our shortlist of countries
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Connected_Open_Heritage/Countries>.
3. Adding information about built cultural heritage in the countries on our
shortlist
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Connected_Open_Heritage/Countries>.
4. Designing our logo
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Connected_Open_Heritage/Get_Involved/Logo>
(open until Sunday) and support existing logo designs (open until the 11th
of November).
For reference these are the African countries on our shortlist:
- Mali
- Egypt
- Morocco
- Tanzania
- Zimbabwe
- South Africa
- Kenya
Thanks very much
John
