Namaste,
Wkiconference India 2023 starts tomorrow. The home page is here -
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiConference_India_2023
I have many questions -
* Where the event is happening?
* If someone just wants to walk-in, where he/she should go?
* Sessions are listed. But no details. There could have been link to
the submissions so that we can know what are the details
* No mention of links to online streaming. No live streaming?
I just observed something peculiar about this event. Most details, for ex.,
venue, are kept as secret. What is the necessity to do so? When I travel to
such events, I start posting in social media (FB, Insta, Twitter, Whatsapp
status) about the event, start posting photos from airport itself till end
of event. So far I did not see a single post about the event, the venue, the
goodies, the sessions, etc. What's going on? Whether the organisers have put
a ban on such activities? If that is the case, then it is totally against
the philosophy of free knowledge and open society.
I am just wondering. I am sure many more also will be wondering.
Thanks and regards,
Pavanaja
Hello all,
Hope you are doing well. Glad to meet you again and appreciate your
involvement in the Wikimedia movement. We already know that March month is
known as Women’s month. A lot of campaigns or events are going on to
celebrate the month. For the same purpose, CIS-A2K and Commons
Photographers User Group (CPUG) have planned an online activity for March.
For the same purpose, CIS-A2K and Commons Photography User Group have
designed an online activity for March.
The activity will focus on Wikimedia Commons and it will begin on 21 March
and end on 31 March 2023. During this campaign, the participants will work
on structure data, categories and descriptions of the existing images. We
will provide you with the list of the photographs that were uploaded under
those campaigns, conducted for Women’s Month.
You can find the event page link here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CIS-A2K/Events/Women%27s_Month_Datathon_on_…
We are inviting you to participate in this event and make it successful.
The tasks will be easy, however, these tasks are essential to improve or
add. There will be at least one online session to demonstrate the tasks of
the event. We will come back to you with the date and time.
If you have any questions please write to us on the event talk page.

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all well!
I am pleased to share that the *draft annual plan *
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Annual_Plan/2023-2024>of
the Wikimedia Foundation for the coming fiscal year from July 2023 to June
2024 has been published and is open for feedback.
While the entire annual plan is available in multiple languages, a short
summary
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Annual_Plan/2023-2024>
is available in close to 30 languages including many from the region.
The Foundation’s current Annual Plan is anchored in the two strategic
pillars of our movement strategy
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Strategy>: * “knowledge equity”
and “knowledge as a service.” *
Since last year, the Foundation has prioritized two-way planning
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Annual_Plan/2022-2023/…>
with communities by asking community members to share their goals for the
coming year. This renewed approach helps us better see the shared needs,
efforts, and opportunities across communities and to identify further
collaborations that could be developed or deepened by region, by project,
or by another area of interest.
As we embark on our Annual Planning Process (APP) journey for the upcoming
year we are hosting a series of calls/discussions
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_Annual_Plan/2023-2024/…>
across various time zones to collaborate across the movement. For the South
Asia-friendly time zone, we are hosting the following conversations.
1. In-person session during WikiConference India,
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiConference_India_2023/Program> on the
28th of April with the attendees of the conference. (recording to be
uploaded on meta).
2. Virtual Discussion on the 30th of April, 2023 (0600 UTC)- Join Us!
We would like to invite you all to participate in the virtual discussion on
the 30th of April where Lisa Seitz Gruwell, Chief Advancement Officer, and
Deputy to the Chief Executive Officer
<https://wikimediafoundation.org/profile/lisa-seitz-gruwell/> would be
sharing and discussing the plans with the movement.

Dear community members,
I would like to provide you with more information on the upcoming annual
Wikimedia Foundation fundraising campaign in India.
As mentioned before, the fundraising campaign will have two components.
1.
We will send emails to people who have previously donated from India.
The emails are scheduled to be sent between the 2nd of May and the 1st
of June.
2.
We will run banners for non-logged in users in India on English
Wikipedia itself. The banners will run from the 30th of May until the
27th of June.
Prior to this, we are planning to run some tests in April and May, so you
might see banners a couple of times before the campaign starts. This
activity will ensure that our technical infrastructure works.
✨ We have now launched a community engagement page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising/India2023campaign#India_fundrai…>
where you can find more details around the campaign. We are also sharing
some banner examples there and are inviting you to give feedback on the
examples as well as provide your own messaging suggestions on the talk page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Fundraising/India2023campaign>.
I will also be hosting a community call
<https://meet.google.com/xaf-ypuf-zrr> on the* 23rd of April at 19:30pm
IST* to which you can also bring your questions and suggestions.
Generally, before and during the campaign, you can contact us:
-
On the talk page of the fundraising team
