Hello friends,
This is a link I recommend you to bookmark.
http://wiki.wikimedia.in/Geographical_distribution_of_Indian_Wikipedians

* Arunachal Pradesh
* Assam
* Chandigarh
* Chhattisgarh
* Dadra, Nagar & Haveli
* Daman & Diu
* Goa
* Himachal Pradesh
* Jammu & Kashmir
* Jharkhand (AngPradesh is in Mumbai)
* Lakshadweep
* Manipur
* Meghalaya
* Mizoram
* Puducherry
* Punjab (oye, ye ki hoya!)
* Nagaland
* Uttar Pradesh
* Uttarakhand
Okay, all you admins, please update your status (Mikey my boy, that means

Abroad, we dont have Indic Wikipedians listed for:
* Africa
* Australia

* Middle East
* North America
* South America
Unless you would like to stay off list, of course that's acceptable too.
May I also request Tinu / list admins to please forward it all the Indic
language & city Wikimedia lists. We need this resource to be as
comprehensible as possible.
Warm regards,
Ashwin Baindur

Hi all,
Thanks Satdeep for the nomination. I am really honored.
But I am very sorry that I cannot accept the nomination, as I am being
provided infrastructure support from WMIN, which is essential for me to
continue my volunteer on-wiki activities as a community member, and it will
be a conflict of interest from my part to continue to get the support as
well as become a Advisory committee member.
I am also happy to nominate the name of Satdeep Gill, as he is one of the
most active community members in India (both on-wiki and off-wiki) and also
the founder member of Punjabi Wikimedia User Group, the first user group
from India. He was also mentioned as Wikimedian of the Year in Wikimania
Mexico in 2015 by Jimbo Wales. In my opinion, his addition to the committee
will improve the communication gap between the community and the chapter.
Best wishes,

I am trying to work on https://ta.wikisource.org with python API.
This tamil wikisource has custom html option buttons to mention the edit status.
See a screenshot here.

How to enable these custom option buttons via API?
Thanks.

I need to correct one thing. 'Siska.Doviana' is primarily her WMID work
account. Siska has been contributing prolifically to Wikimedia projects
since 2006.
That said, both of the candidates that you prefer are very good choices
IMO. ;)

Hi all,
I have gone through the nomination page and questions asked to the
candidates. My choice would be* Nataliia Tymkiv* and *Kunal Mehta. *
Both these candidates are well aware of the declining relationship among
community, staff and WMF and want to solve them in a transparent wiki way.
Both their answers seemed practical to me and I think, if they are
selected, they would make a difference.
A newcomer Nataliia's stand against Wikimedia Ukraine ED Yury Perohanych's
whimsical approach to community members in 2013 is also worth mentioning.
Salute!

Kunal Mehta is a WMF staff as well as an active Wikimedia volunteer, a
combination we obviously need in a BoT member. He has closely observed the
crises built in foundation and in my opinion, has more insights in this
matter than other candidates.
Other candidates, except few, are also active Wikipedians in their way and
if I had another option, I would preferred Osmar Valdebenito.

P.S.
Satdeep and Sudhanwa preferred Siska Doviana. With all due respect,
personally I am not fond of those Wikimedians who are not/less active
on-wiki and still are/were EC members of different Wikimedia chapters. I
know, that global edit-count is not the best indicator for Wikimedia
involvement, but on-wiki involvement helps Wikimedians know the dynamics of
the community, realize common community problems by heart and look for
solution collaboratively. To me, if you are an EC member, then you have
more reason to edit on-wiki (not only meta), because that only makes you
build the bond with community members.
In this context, I will *NOT* recommend WMIN to support Siska Doviana from
WMID, who has only around 3,300 global edits!!.

I also do not support her initiative, stated in her nomination talk page,
about providing huge amount of money to winners of content competition. To
me, its a way to trigger dangerous practice in wiki world.

Dear Community
I regret to inform you that Wikimedia India has not been give periodic
updates regarding the activities of the chapter. This is in spite of the
fact that the last year, we have been doing many activities & making great
strides in reaching out to the community.Apart from that,Wikimedia India
has also not been open about the obstacles which currently our organization
is facing.
1.) No Monthly Reports were being circulated by the Office Bearer’s at
Wikimedia India. Major updates regarding to different activities were given
to the community, but a periodic update was not given to the community The
Executive Committee (EC) along with the Program Director recognize the
negligence in this regard. An assurance regarding the same has been
provided in this regard. On the first Monday of every month, we shall be
submitting our monthly report to the community.
2.) Inability to Conduct Annual General Meeting for 2014-2015: The Office
Bearers have already been apologetic in this regard. An assurance has been
provided that efforts are being undertaken to process it as soon as
possible.
3.) Current Financial obstacle faced by the Chapter: We are in Process of
renewing our FCRA license , but due to this,the Chapter at present is
facing financial challenges.
To tackle these problems ,we are taking guidance from senior community
members & founding members of the chapter. We hope to resolve these issues
soon & continue with all the good work we have been doing so far.
