a list of things I think I’ve learned as part of this discussion:
1) currently there is no plan to do away with the IRC stream

Actually, I understood the first time and I agree with this assessment. I still don’t
find it to be a compelling reason to go and do the work. But it probably would’ve taken
about as long as it has to try to get a clear answer out of you all :-)
