Hi all.
Soon we're going to be soliciting requests from the community to serve on the Jury of Wikimania 2011.
Please find http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania/Jury which is a list of general requirements. Thanks to Phoebe Ayers who worked hard on getting that page together.
Just something to keep your mind on. Please feel free to email with any questions, and also to discuss the process here.
At this time I'm going to ask if there are any people who are interested in serving on the Wikimania jury. Mind you, I have already heard from some folk, but would certainly like to hear from more. Please email me privately.
Here are some guidelines: * Please make sure you will have some time to be involved in the selection process, especially between January 1 and the first week of March. * People who have attended Wikimania or who have greatly contributed to a strong bid, or who have run other Wikimedia events; and who are otherwise involved in the Wikimedia movement are preferred. * There will be a representative of the board, the advisory board, and the WMF staff on the jury. The other members should be an even mix of chapter and non-chapter people; and the jury as a whole should be geographically diverse and have a fair representation of both genders. * If you are going to be contributing in a large part to a bid for 2011, you are not advised to put your name forth for conflict of interest reasons.
I am posting this to Wikimania-l and Wikimania-planning-l right now, but do plan on cross-posting to Foundation-l later on.
Also, please don't fret if I don't respond to you right away; I'm going on vacation for the American Thanksgiving holiday week and will be only marginally available. - -- Cary Bass Volunteer Coordinator, Wikimedia Foundation
