Thanks, Antoni! Are you also looking for translators? How is language
support going to work this year?
Warmly, SJ
PS - It's hard to see what is still needed when things happen via forms and
off-wiki. Any updates you can post to the wiki itself would be welcome ///

Dear Wiki Community,
*Wikimania: The Festival Edition!* will be taking place on *11-14 August
2022*.
Wikimania is the Wikimedia movement's annual conference celebrating all the
free and open knowledge projects made possible by the volunteer community.
This year's Wikimania will bring Wikimedians together to create, celebrate
and connect, virtually and with in-person components.
We are super excited to let you know that *the* *Program submissions and
grant applications are open today!* For programming, we are looking for
sessions that are fun, regionally-focused, and welcome newcomers. For
grants and scholarships, we will be providing affiliate grants to fund the
organizing of Wikimania local events, and also offering scholarships for
individual attendees to enable their participation in Wikimania 2022.

Dear all,
We are very happy to announce the Core Organizing Team (COT) for Wikimania 2022: Anton Protsiuk, Antoni Mtavangu, Evelin Heidel (Scann), Houcemeddine Turki (Csisc), Kayode Yussuf (Kayusyussuf), NANöR, Omar David Sandoval Sida (Omar_sansi), Richard Knipel (Pharos), Sandra Aceng, and Venus Lui.
You find photos and biographies on
https://diff.wikimedia.org/2022/02/24/announcing-the-wikimania-2022-core-or…
This talented group of volunteers from around the world was selected from more than 70 excellent applications. They will work with you over the next six months to organize our annual flagship event, designing a Wikimania that brings our community together and celebrates our movement.
In the coming weeks, the COT will be inviting your ideas and suggestions on what Wikimania 2022 should look like – what would you like to see more of? What should we keep from last year [1]? What should be different? And of course we’ll need your contribution to the event as volunteers. More to be shared soon and do not hesitate to share your thoughts with us on the Wikimania 2022 discussion page.
Thanks to the new COT and to all Wikimania 2022 volunteers!
Here’s to a great event!

Dear all,
The Wikimania Foundation events team, the Wikimania steering committee, and
members of the 2021 Wikimania organizing team would like to invite you to
help organize Wikimania 2022! Wikimania 2022 will again primarily be a
virtual event, with distributed in-person events if local and global
circumstances allow.
We need volunteers to be a part of the core organizing team as well as for
other roles. You can find more information here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2022/Volunteer
The core team will help determine the structure and timeline of the event,
lead programming, scholarship, communication and other teams for the event,
and help ensure our global conference is a success.
For the process to volunteer, see:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2022/Volunteer#How_to_volunteer
There's a set of questions on the meta page linked above; you can email
your answers to the events team or post on meta by January 9th, 2022.
Events staff and Wikimania steering committee members will review
applications, meet with shortlisted candidates the following week, and
announce the core organizing team by January 21st. Please post any
questions on the talk page. We look forward to building an amazing
conference team!
best,
Phoebe Ayers
vice-chair Wikimania Steering Committee
