Wikimania Budget (related to chapters and WMF)

Hi, I know it may be too early to ask that, but I promise to send another notification related this issue in the coming months :) We started last year to make the Wikimania costs more transparent. Wikimania is our biggest and the most expensive project. To ask our self "how much Wikimania costs" we can't only look on the project budget, as the total cost involve also scholarships (from WMF and chapters) and delegations of the chapters and the WMF. We have tracking pages on Meta about Wikimania 2011<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2011/Budget>and Wikimania 2012 <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2012/Budget> (sadly the organizer team of 2012 didn't updated their costs till now...), and I opened a new page for Wikimania 2013<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2013/Budget> . So again, I know to some of you this is too early to put the costs (although the size of the chapters and WMF delegation is known and could be update also now) - but if you can, do it now. If now, remember to do it what you have the numbers. Dear Wikimedia community: I would like to help provide feedback for Wikimania 2013 and 2014 organizers regarding genderqueer and trans* Wikimedians' experience of Wikimania (especially on the topics of registration, accommodations, t-shirts, and other parts of Wikimania where gender comes up). If you have that kind of feedback for the organizers but would prefer to submit it anonymously, I'm happy to help by posting it on the Feedback pages on your behalf and without your name. (Of course, if you would like to post feedback yourself, feel free! Proposal: Wikimania project domain

Hi, Right now, we already have a dozen separate wikis for each past and future Wikimanias, and there's no doubt there'll be much more to come. The idea here is to have a single Wikimania wiki (wikimania.wikimedia.org) for all conferences, instead of the current separate-wiki style (wikimania2012.wikimedia.org). This has been discussed at Wikimania project domain in 2011, but it seems to have quickly ran outta gas. Key issues addressed: * Q1: Organizers (alone) of a current conference needs to have absolute control over the conference wiki (aka being an admin). * A1: Wikimania wikis does not run as normal projects. Hence, all organizers shall easily be given admin rights (and former organizers removed) as it becomes necessary. The cycle continues. * Q2: What about archiving past wikis? What if we need to look back? * A2: Except for key pages (such as the Main Page), all other pages of each project could be created under the respective year's subpage. For example, all 2012 conference's pages would be under [http://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2012/page/page/etc]. Additionally if necessary, any vital page requiring archiving could also be edit protected (cascading style too, if possible). Chapters Village – hot or not?

Hey hey Wikimaniacs, now that everyone is back to normal (or back from vacation ;)), we would like to ask you for some feedback about the Chapters Village that was hosted in the logo square during the conference. The short survey not only addresses chapters who actively took part, but also visitors and guest who had the chance to get an impression of the set-up and involvement of movement entities. We would like to hear about your experiences with the Chapters Village and the extra sessions during the breaks to see if we should continue this format and how we can possibly improve it next year. All we want from you is that you could upload photos of monuments you took during Wikimania. please go tohttps://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_2013_in_H… note that there are two kinds of monuments in Hong Kong: declared monuments and historic buildings. You can quickly check the list on the page, whether the thing you took in HK is a declared monument or historic building. Then you can upload to relative portals.
