Welcome to Hong Kong! Some conferences do, but then it is a big courtesy.
The Wikimania team advises to buy an Octopus card to make your journeys and
payments a smooth experience. So the answer is implicit: there won't be day
passes for Wikimaniacs. On the one hand the network seems too extensive to
offer that, on the other hand there are more than 200 public transport
companies in Hong Kong, there is no single pass for all of them. Octopus,
which is a RFID based, neutral payment system is the best operability you
can get. Regards, Manuel
Hi, Communnity hopefully you're the way to HK but l want to know how
to access mobile in Tanzania we have VODACOM, TIGO, AIRTEL, TTCL,
sASATEL and ZANTEL so l want to know among of all those is any one
operating in HK?.. Simplly l can use with my sim card?.. Without any
changes?..

Hello Wikimaniacs,
Because we're here to show you awesome hospitality, there will be two panic
phones at Wikimania 2013!
They are:
(+852) 97657894 - Deryck Chan (general enquiries & HKBU dormitory)
(+852) 90772757 - Samuel Chan (transport & PolyU venue)
If you're in panic, just call either of us regardless of what your problem
actually is. Both of us are prepared to handle any problem our fellow
Wikimaniacs might have :)
*Save these numbers into your phones now!*
Both numbers are temporary numbers which are posted publicly for the
purposes of Wikimania 2013, and will be disposed of afterwards. Our
personal numbers will also remain operational throughout Wikmania.
See you in Hong Kong!
Deryck & Samuel

Hi.
Are there Europlug/Schuko to BS1363 adapters available in Hong Kong? I
couldn't find any in my country. Where can I buy one for myself?

Are the plugs in HK the same as in the UK?

FYI,
I'm also proposing a "Tech shopping" meetup on Wednesday, on Development
Day 1. This will bring folks to the main tech shopping area of Hong Kong,
Sham Shui Po, where you can get these plugs, cell phones, computer parts,
or whatever electronics you may want.

As has been customary for the last few years, there will be an India Meeting at Wikimania. More of an informal chat regarding the state of the movement and meeting people. Thanks to Tinu for initiating this. The date/time/venue is still TBD, but do sign up if your interested :)
Wiki page: http://wikimania2013.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_India_meeting
Heja Wikimaniacs,
if you were wondering what Bence was talking about in yesterday’s mail when
mentioning something called “Chapters Village” THIS is the email you should
not miss to read.
Yes, yes, this year there will be a dedicated area for chapters (and other
Wikimedia organisations) to present their work, exchange knowledge, talk,
inform, socialise and have fun:
http://wikimania2013.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapters_Village. You can find us
in the Logo Square.
The Chapters Village will be “open” from Friday till Sunday, during regular
conference hours. It is not designed to provide a counter programme to the
official conference, this is why we have scheduled meet-ups and speed
geeking during the coffee, tea and lunch breaks. The programme appears in
the official programme brochure; on top of that, we have printed a nice
leaflet to spread on-site.
Here's the PDF file:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Chapters-village_web_120dpi.pdf
You can find the detailed (and always up-to-date) programme here:
http://wikimania2013.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapters_Village#Programme:_Join_in…
At the moment, we have 13 chapters and organisations planning to be part of
the Chapters Village already. But you can still join in! Just add your
plans and ideas to the wiki page.
You are all invited to swing by and say hi, to catch up on the chapters’
projects, plans and programmes, to ask all the questions you always wanted
to ask chapters and talk to us about your idea of our common mission.
Feel free to get in touch should you have any questions or ideas to share.
Looking forward to seeing you in Hong Kong.
Cheers,
Nicole
