Though it's odd to criticize top-posting in a message that's at least partially top-posted too; you start out with interleaved replies, but then have a big block of untrimmed quotage trailing off at the bottom.
There *has* been quite a burst of top-posting on this list lately.

Of course, the usual general custom on these lists favours bottom posting. The untrimmed portion essentially was stripped down to only my previous response which had been posted on the bottom of his previous top posting. Since my last comments followed immediately upon his own comments then it's obvious that itr was bottom posted. The additional quoted material should then be viewed as nothing more than a footnote.

Actually, I think you'll find that the general custom is in favor of ignoring the posting styles of contributor in favor of paying attention to what they are trying to say :).

Something which can be hard to do when placing the context of their literal words is made difficult by difficult-to-read posting styles.

Like pure bottom posting? All I'm trying to say is: I am extremely tired of seeing people spending time on this issue that, in the end, means little. If you cannot figure out what someone is replying to, ask them to restate their statement, rather than ragging on them for not using whatever your preferred style of posting.
Sincerely, Silas Snider

Please try not to make any more out of this than is warranted. Bringing the matter up once is not "ragging', and judging from the person criticized's response he is new to the mailing list, and genuinely did not see the problem.
