I think [[Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy/schools]] and [[Wikipedia:What's in, what's out]] both pretty clearly show that in the wider community there is no consensus to remove schools. - ~~~~

Yes. It is clear that there is no consensus to delete all schools prima faciae. There is also very notably no consensus to keep all schools.
Which means that schools are covered on an individual basis.
Which is, oddly enough, exactly what VfD is for - considering the deletion of an individual article.
How convenient, no?

Right, the problem is that the reasons given for deletion are not ones that are part of the deletion policy. Do you support the deletion of articles with the word 'green' in, if I could persuade enough people to vote for it? I hope not, and for the same reason, I oppose people deleting school that do not meet deletion criteria. If they do meet the community agreed criteria for deletion, then I will vote delete. Mark

If you can get a 2/3 vote on VfD for deleting an article because it has the word green in it, I will not only support it, I will delete the article myself.

Then you are in a state of sin. Deleting content that does not meet community agreed criteria simply because you can get a majority of people in the room to agree to it is clearly not in the best interests of the 'pedia. Mark
