"I've spent hour after frustrating hour on talk pages with 172 actually;
when one resolves not to get into edit wars with somebody who has a
habit of reverting (VV is just one of many who 172 has reverted), talk
pages are one's only option. You should review them for yourself before
you start talking about foibles and projection."
Since a lot of users buy into your distortions of the truth (users
with whom I'd like to work cooperatively), I've enclosed in this
e-mail excepts from our two longest running interactions of the year.
Despite your claims, I'm sure that fair-minded users will see once and
for all that I have struggled to be as fair and helpful to you as
possible. I think that they'll find that in the end I should've really
been the one guilty of all the things of which you accuse me.
I especially recommend the parts where 172 says I'm calling him a
Stalinist because I thought that it was POV to use the term "dictator"
only for rightwingers but not leftwingers, and where he won't promise
not to revert my edits, because hey, I might vandalize the article.
The whole thing was simply exhausting - for this kind of discussion
I try to word things carefully, so as avoid misunderstanding, and it
takes me a lot of time and a lot of rephrasing. To be met with "I
don't know what you want" in response, that is a pretty clear
message that I'm not getting anywhere.
No doubt I could have been still more patient, but I do Wikipedia
for enjoyment, and the interaction with 172 was getting frustrating
to the point where I was losing interest in WP, so I cut my losses
and deliberately shifted to other areas.
