A database query that generates a list of all such references might be
useful. They could then be perused by hand.
It's definitely inappropriate for Wikipedia to cite itself as if it
was a reliable source. However there is a grey area - if a person's
source of the information is actually Wikipedia, it would be good to
somehow record that fact (maybe as a <!-- HTML comment -->). Yes, all
information should ideally be cited...but most of it isn't, and
information honestly cited to its source is better than information
with no citation whatsoever.
