I think some don't realise (because they don't work in the right
areas) just how incomplete Wikipedia is in many topic areas, and thus
how damaging shutting down article creation would be. In their view,
Wikipedia already contains pretty much all the articles it needs and
thus article creation is something only harmful (because all new
articles are unencyclopedic cruft anyway).
