Without taking strong sides or making any kind of formal statement, I
would just like to
say that I feel that BJAODN is a delightful part of Wikipedia history
and important for just
the reasons that George puts forward below.
Surely a compromise can be reached.

It doesn't directly help the encyclopedia at all.
It's a noticably well known and loved part of the community building
the encyclopedia, and as we try to avoid being sterile SOBs who refuse
to consider any community issues at all, perhaps we should consider
that the flamage has a point.
