uncalled for, it is hateful.
A slanderous innuendo? Where? I missed it? Dang...
"Segregation" implies a lot, in American English. It's not a very
friendly word to use in a context like this.
Kanji being the primary element of the written
language of the second
largest world economy, of a technologically advanced and pionering
nation where the internet is concerned, and the official writ of 140
million people, I dare say that blaming people for using it is
narror-sighted at best.
I disagree completely. Should we go over to the Japanese wikipedia
and start writing in romaji and then accuse the Japanese of being
"narrow-sighted at best" if they don't care for it?
On a more serious note, Robert, how would you feel if
the Internet
had been createdn by the Soviets, and the ligua franca was Russian,
and the script was cyrillic, would you not want to sign your own name
the way your parents meant for you to rather than with less-than
perfect cyrillic approximations?
I for one would not. If I were writing in the Japanese wikipedia, I
would write my name in katakana, as a gesture of professionalism,
kindness, and respect.
But this is all pretty irrelevant, isn't it? Stevertigo is not doing
this to preserve the traditions of his parents, but to be cutesy.
