As a noncommercial forum, it would make more sense to put it in a
.org address, like Wikipedia itself.
(I think I played some role in convincing the Wikipedia Weekly
podcast people to switch from .com to .org with their own site.)

So I suppose that any proposal to delete that article would be, ahem,
a big bust.

Disclaimers like this are quite ridiculous in postings to public
mailing lists.
On another mail-format-related issue, some people are failing to do
any trimming whatsoever to the quoted material they're replying to;
one recent thread has resulted in a message with an astounding eight
copies of the list footer, interspersed between a hodgepodge of top
and bottom posted replies.

Yesterday I opened a discussion forum called "The WikBack" for public
use. It is intended to be an alternative to wikien-l for those who
prefer the organization and participation style of a web-based forum.
You do not need to register to read posts. Registration is available to
anyone who has an account on ENWP.
The WikBack is advertising free. I am paying the hosting fees out of my
own pocket.
Please consider participating.

79 desysops..bah..I bet we will have over 100 de-sysops in 2008..Most
admins quit /leave for two reasons..1 being that they are really stressed
and need to relax so temp wikibreak and secondly, they didn't anticipate
that being an admin means so much work and so they give up because they
can't really cope with the rising number of editors/vandals and "wikidrama"
(f or some )..Cometstyles..

There was a recent ANI post about a user who identifies himself as a
peodophile (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:ANI#Pro_pedophile_advocacy_userbox ).
His userbox has been deleted. I'd like to know where we stand in relation to
peadophiles. Any thoughts or opinions on this subject? I know it's
difficult, but we really need some kind of policy about this.

I would actually support that... I think the concept of banning (as
opposed to blocking) is not particularly compatible with the
principles on which Wikipedia is supposedly run. Blocking is a
pragmatic move to attempt to stop (or at least put a speed bump in
front of) sprees of vandalism or other abuse or disruption, whether
caused by people being evil, insane, trollish, immature, angry, or
drunk. Since some of these conditions are capable of going away when
the person involved calms down, sobers up, reforms, matures, etc.,
there's no need for a permanent judgment against the person involved
if they're no longer doing whatever was causing problems before.
Banning is an attempt to impose a "crime and punishment" model that
does not fit comfortably into Wikipedia policy. It's taken to
excessive extremes by some fire-breathing admins who insist that any
ideas that can be seen as originating with a banned user need to be
vigorously suppressed even when a user in good standing suggests
them.
