Although Dario Taraborelli has claimed that such Committee approval is required, he has refused to say where such a policy statement exists:

The only minutes I was able to find wherein the Research Committee discussed the possibility of reviewing and approving research, doing so was explicitly rejected, including by Dario, in favor of issuing guidelines instead:

A Wikipedia Research Policy was announced in April 2010, but never formally approved by the English Wikipedia community or the Foundation:
