Hi;
I'm compiling a list of research areas inside the study of wikis. I would like to receive your feedback. Any suggestion or improvement?
See here: http://wikipapers.referata.com/wiki/List_of_research_areas
Thanks, emijrp
I'd definitely add the issues of governance, the social organization of work, etc.

Hello, Great list; I will have a closer look later. Sometimes I have the impression that Wikipedia research is mostly counting bits and bytes and less qualitative research in the field of 'social sciences'. Kind regards Ziko

It's a great idea, but very ambitious, I would say. I have to agree with Ziko and Dariusz. Missing all the items I checked for - governance, motivations, culture, power relations, gender inequality, education/teaching... (I realize of course this is just a start, hence my list of suggestions here).
In either case, the list seems to be based around a number of pretty detailed concepts, it it based on keywords? If so, you'll have hundreds if not thousands of sections soon. If not, I'd be curious about the methodology of selecting the topics.
I'd suggest that rather than a page like this, you should aim for keywords as categories. A dynamic listing like that may eventually have a chance of being up to date, and exhaustive.

Motivations and education are in the list. Governance may go as an additional keyword inside "Community, policies, social structure and organization". I will add gender and culture, thanks.

There is a page for each keyword http://wikipapers.referata.com/wiki/List_of_keywords But in the "research areas" page I try to group publications with related keywords into sections, so there won't be more than 30 or 40 sections.
I'd suggest that rather than a page like this, you should aim for keywords as categories. A dynamic listing like that may eventually have a chance of being up to date, and exhaustive.

I'd consider separating those. Is culture "culture and language"?

I like having the categories (and as you say, you do already have keywords).

Yes, gender is a section, and culture (and language) another one.

Did you take a look on the Wikilit structure. We have built two hierarchies of research topics, one called "Topics" the other called "Domains", see:
http://wikilit.referata.com/w/index.php?title=Special%3ACategoryTree&tar...
http://wikilit.referata.com/w/index.php?title=Special%3ACategoryTree&tar...
There seems to be some overlap between Wikipapers and Wikilit:
http://wikilit.referata.com/wiki/Category:Contributor_motivation
I'd also add "Demography" as a top level topic for Gender studies.
- Intellectual property - Open collaboration - Social network research - ¿Participation studies?

I would add definitely "Demography".
- Intellectual property
Any paper example?
- Open collaboration
Inside Community, policies, social structure and organization
- Social network research
The name I use is "Wikis as social networks".
- ¿Participation studies?
This may fit in Authorship and Community and Motivation (each one has its
own section)?
Thanks.
