Hi all, as some of you know, Wikimedia Deutschland is a Use Case Partner in the EU-funded research project RENDER, which concerns with the diversity of knowledge and information. To collect and discuss ideas and thoughts regarding knowledge diversity and bias in Wikipedia, we established a project page on http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/RENDER. There you can find more details to the project, the main goals and our tasks, and a bibliography of relevant literature, we observed so far. Please, let us know on the discussion page, if there are missing information or unclear descriptions. Maybe you have any ideas of additional literature regarding diversity, quality and user behaviour in Wikipedia, we forgot to realise. Also, feel invited to contact us if you want to work with us on the topics of the research project. We are open to external partners, and welcome their input. We are looking forward to a fruitful discussion and cooperation.
Regards, Angelika
Hi Angelika;
Diversity and bias are interesting topics for me. I compiled some information about that some weeks ago.[1][2]
I have read RENDER meta: page and I understood that it is focused on biased articles mainly, right? What about uncovered topics (red links/missing articles), for example African biographies on English Wikipedia? That biases may be bigger and hidden.
I have experience in developing scripts for wiki projects. I would be glad to help if needed.
Regards, emijrp
