Hey folks,
The staff of the Foundation has developed a "messaging platform" to use in fundraising efforts. This is basically a simple description of who we are, what we're doing, and why we think people should support us. It's aimed at a general audience - people who don't know much about Wikimedia. (And it's Wikipedia-centric, because that's the project the general public knows & asks most about.) It will change over time, but it's what we're using right now.
It's here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_Messaging_Platform
It's intended mainly for verbal use - the idea being that users can adapt, add to or discard from it, based on whatever they need for a particular conversation. It's never used word-for-word; it's just raw material.
I'm sharing it here because it may be useful for individuals or chapters for all kinds of reasons - such as fundraising, talking to the media, talking to the public, talking to educational institutions. Feel free to use it in whatever way you like, and share it with anyone you want :-)
Thanks, Sue
