Hi Quim,
From a technical viewpoint Wikimedia Labs has the perfect
infrastructure and it would be pretty straightforward to move
OpenGeoServer.org to Wikimedia Labs.
What is complicating things is that the last time I checked Wikimedia
Labs has / had the policy only to host test & development server and
any live service should use the Wikimedia Foundation production
environment.
Which leaves already running Wikipedia related OSM & Web Map Service
with no clear path forward until the new Wikimedia Foundation web
mapping infrastructure has emerged.
Understood, thank you.
This leaves us with three possibilities (that I can see, maybe there are
more):
* Wait and hope that the mapping infrustructure in Wikimedia production
server is ready for you soon.
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33980 seems to be the
best place to follow, ask and help.
* Agree with Wikimedia Germany or Wikimedia Foundation an exceptional
extension of the current funding until the new mapping infrastructure is
ready to receive
opengeoserver.org.
* Use Wikimedia Labs as a stepping stone to avoid your current hard
deadline or budget negotiations to extend it, without depending so
heavily on the current work on the new mapping infrastructure.
Does this picture reflect the alternatives? What do you think is the
best option?
