Hi there,
I updated my bicycle-layer:
http://toolserver.org/~ti/map.png
slow-speed-areas:
- highway=living_street OR maxspeed<=30 get a lime background
access restrictions:
- forbidden ways are rendered in red, allowed ways in green and
designated ways in blue
- oneway-streets with two-way traffic for cyclists are rendered with
turquoise dots
- motorroad=yes/no is rendered with red/green squares
surface:
- paved/asphalt/cobblestone/paving_stones/concrete: thin black line
- unpaved/compacted/pebblestone/wood: thin white line
- gravel/ground/grass/dirt/sand/earth: thin red line
The style-file can be found at the old location:
/home/ti/styles/bicycle_combined.xml
Secondly, I'd like to renew my request for rendering the access-styles
in /styles/qa/ and /styles/qai/ that would help to improve routing in
OSM.
Regards,
Thomas

I updated the bw-mapnik style, copying the service-highway and power
changes. I also added bw-noicons and put z0-6 into the background queue.
The new style can be accessed as usual:

Please change that to
<FontSet name="book-fonts">
<Font face_name="DejaVu Sans Book" />
<Font face_name="unifont Medium" />

Try to render some area in china (or a complete world to 2048x2048 px)
and you'll see it failing.

Unifont is a Bitmap-Font which makes it look not so nice, but it
contains all characters of the Unicode Basic Multilingual Plane which
makes it perfect as a fallaback.

Because it has both enabled.

I added the unifont already to the style used by tirex, see
<http://svn.toolserver.org/svnroot/p_osm/styles/bw-mapnik/osm-bw.xml>

I'll update the styles this night and activate this one, too.

I just asked out of curiosity.

Hi
Finally, I found some time to set up a base layer in greyscale. I did
this by automatically converting the original mapnik style and
all icons.
http://picpaste.com/pics/mapbw.1287869339.png
There are some caveats:
the style is named osm.xml and refers to ./inc and ./style which
contain different (i.e. b&w files) than the original mapnik. I don't
know if this is incompatible to the way all the layers are bound
into Tirex, please tell me so.
The style can be found here (on willow):
/home/kayd/workspace/parking/mapnik/bw-mapnik
I'd very much like to see it included as a base layer here:
http://toolserver.org/~osm/styles/
I'd like to hear about your opinion: would you rather like a
b&w base layer that's identical to current mapnik, or should
it omit most of the icons (shops, etc.)? Or is both needed?
Main uses would be IMHO the bicycle overlay (which looks
a bit lost with the colorful mapnik base layer) and similar
layers.
Kind regards,
Kay
Hi all
As mentioned before I moved all styles currently rendered to the p_osm
repository [1]. Each style contains at least a CONTACT file with the
toolserver-email-address of the creator. If you wish to place a
LICENSE-file in the directory of your style, please mail me.
Updates to a style need to be sent to this list (not necessarily patches
but also complete folders to copy over)
This is done to guarantee a stable running tirex. I apologize for
possible inconveniences.

Hi,
I am trying to update my parking layer, as well to create (it really is about
time) a b&w-style base layer (maybe more than one). I started by building from
the existing official mapnik style.
But the official mapnik style is now dependent on mapnik 0.7.1. I have not been
able to determine the existing mapnik on nightshade, but is from 2008-08.
Could you please update mapnik on nightshade (or suggest a different server)
to the currently required version of mapnik, so that the official styles can
be rendered?
Thanks,
Kay
Hey,
I'm looking for a PHP librarie that contains classes to represent
geographical entities such as points, area's, routes, ect. It'd be used in
the Maps extension to handle the logic between wikitext and mapping service
JavaScript (and other output). I can go write this myself, but being able to
use a library would be a lot more convenient. Anyone on this list know of
such a library, or how I might find one?
Cheers
