Hi,
I know it may be too early to ask that, but I promise to send another
notification related this issue in the coming months :)
We started last year to make the Wikimania costs more transparent.
Wikimania is our biggest and the most expensive project. To ask our self
"how much Wikimania costs" we can't only look on the project budget, as the
total cost involve also scholarships (from WMF and chapters)
and delegations of the chapters and the WMF.
We have tracking pages on Meta about Wikimania
2011<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2011/Budget>and
Wikimania
2012 <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2012/Budget> (sadly the
organizer team of 2012 didn't updated their costs till now...), and I
opened a new page for Wikimania
2013<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2013/Budget>
.
So again, I know to some of you this is too early to put the costs
(although the size of the chapters and WMF delegation is known and could be
update also now) - but if you can, do it now. If now, remember to do it
what you have the numbers.
The data requested is your chapter\wmf
delegation<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2013/Budget#Delegations>
and
the number of scholarships<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania/Scholarships/2013>your
chapters gave.
Thanks,
Itzik
On behalf of the Wikimania Steering Committee, I would like to encourage anyone in our community
who is interested in hosting Wikimania 2015 to consult the revised timeline and Judging Criteria that
are now posted at:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2015_bids
We would also like to emphasize the need for communication with prospective hosts during the bidding
process. Assistance with preparing your bid and answering questions shoud be directed to me,
the WMF conference coordinator. Please get in touch in January and February!
The Jury Committee has been selected and will be evaluating the proposals in March.

I would say that if we were to set a requirement in this day and age it
would be that video should be live streamed and immediatly (and
permanently) accessible. If I understood it correctly, in London this
will be the case through a Youtube premium account. That should be
repeatable from the same service (or another, like Bambuser that we in
WMSE is using) for all coming events.

Hello all
We want to use some of videos of Wikimania 2013 sessions in an
upcoming event but still and after four months [1] it hasn't been
uploaded yet (I searched in youtube and wikimania2013 wiki).
Can someone give me an date for uploading? or Am I wrong and it has
been published somewhere I didn't notice?
[1] compare to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35T7ceVT5jU from
Wikimania 2012 that published on Aug 21, 2012 and the presentation was
held on Thursday, July 12, 2012

It was way back in August. We're in December. Perhaps we're still waiting
for volunteers.

I think this video issue was resolved some time ago.
Since its a volunteer work, persons who wanna watch the videos are forced
to compromise even if it'll be ready the following year.
Someone has volunteered, so until his or her time permits, ALL the videos
won't be ready to watch at least for the end user.
@lodewijk, that's how I understood your last reply to my previous message
in some thread past. Kindly correct me if I'm wrong.
I think Derrick can clarify things more as well.

Stuck there where? Why can't you just upload them on archive.org and let
their system do the necessary conversions/other users download and edit
them as needed?

Dear all
The committee met this evening and is happy to announce that it chose
its jury.
We received many applications (11 from new candidates) and it was really
tough to choose from all the great people.
We decided to create a jury of 9 members including 4 "oldbies" (=
previous Wikimania jury experience), 4 "newbies" plus 1 WMF staff member.
Accordingly, the following people are welcome to form the future jury
selecting Wikimania 2015 bid.
* Orsolya Gyenes
* Manuel Schneider
* Deror Avi
* Jeromy-Yu Chan
* Netha Hussain
* Victoria Levant
* Richard Sydmonds
* Ralf Roletschek
* Ellie Young

We would like to thank all candidates. Individual emails will be send to
all candidates.
Thanks
