Hi all,
I'm pleased to announce that the book about Lech Wałęsa, which was
prepared for Wikimania 2010 in Gdańsk, has been published at Wikimedia
Commons.
The book contains biographies of Lech Wałęsa[1] in 104 languages of
the world. Every biography comes from a different language version of
Wikipedia. All the text was retrieved at the same moment - On the 1st
of March, 2010. The book was prepared by volunteers from the Polish
Wikipedia community and the whole book, including the cover, is
available under CC-BY-SA 3.0. All the authors are listed on the book's
last pages.
During the closing ceremony of Wikimania 2010 the book was shown for
the first time in public. And a few days after Wikimania, the
President of Gdańsk, Wikimania organizers and Polish Wikipedians gave
Lech Wałęsa the first copy of the book[2].
Now the book is available in PDF on Wikimedia Commons:

Dear all,
I was not at the conference,
I am looking forward to be part of the conversation that ensues after
the conference, being a facilitator trying to enable grass root NGO's.
I am looking for the slide shows about
1.Striving for an International Organisational Scope, The Importance of Culture.
2. A Review of Google Translation project in Tamil Wikipedia: Role of
voluntarism, free and organically evolved community in ensuring
quality of Wikipedia
3.Google Translation.
I find myself lost in the many forums and not able to reach email
addresses through user names.
Cheers,
Anisha

Buna seara,

Dr. Ing. Dumitru PANTURU
Dear organizers (hopefully someone can forward it to those not on this list)
thank you so much for putting the time and dedication into this years
wikimania. Organizing a conference of this size with attendees who have such
high demands and expectations is as always hard, and I think it deserves an
applause no matter whether some things did not go as planned.
It was a very difficult organizing this year, the bumps in the road were
numerous and I would like to explicitely thank all those volunteers who were
not a part of the bidding team but stepped in when their help was most
needed. Several people who live outside Poland suddenly lived for a few
weeks in an appartment in Gdansk together - leaving their lives for what
they were - and had to make horrible long hours to make the conference to
what it has become. I have deep appreciation for those people and I think it
is quite unique and wonderful to have such a volunteer base to fall back
onto.
But also "the people we did not see" did a tremendous amount of work in the
past weeks. I remember that I slipped a few days before the conference that
it would be nice to have X in the attendee packages, and the next day they
were suddenly arranged!
I dont dare to call out the specific people, being afraid of missing several
- I have only seen so much of it. I do hope to have the opportunity of
seeing many of you irl again soon!
many hugs,
Lodewijk
Dear all,
Just to say: It was a great Wikimania and I hope to be there next time,
again.
Is there any chance to have a look at the slides of following presentations
