Hello,
I know the sponsorships committee has got a lot of work, but as the time
goes by plane tickets are getting more and more expensive. It is even
possible now that the requested sponsorships won't be enough to even
purchase the ticket for those who get a sponsorphip...

Hi all,
I know that the CfP deadline is April 30th (ie Monday) - and I'm
busily working towards finishing my submissions - but what I want to
know is: does the CfP deadline close at midnight Monday (ie 00:00
Tuesday)? And is it working off Taipei time, UTC, or what?
Cheers,
Cormac
Perhaps on all the wikipedias, there should be added in various languages,
$wgSiteNotice = '2007 Wikimania Taiwan...'
/** If set, a bold ugly notice will show up at the top of every page. */
to drum up interest.
(Wikimania seems as important as the other things $wgSiteNotice has
been used for in the past.)
P.S., http://wikimania2007.wikimedia.org/wiki/Team_and_Volunteers
seems like it got vandalized.
Hello, everyone! I'm writing to invite Wikimania organizers and
attendees to RecentChangesCamp in Montreal, 18-20 May 2007. Many of you
have already received personal invitations to attend RecentChangesCamp
Montreal; for those of you who we've missed, I wanted to send this
broadcast message.
I realize this is somewhat off-topic; apologies in advance. Please feel
free to chide me with off-list email if you find this invitation
inappropriate.
RecentChangesCamp is a world-wide "unconference" for wiki technologists,
wiki users and wiki admins. Also invited are people from related
technology and community practises, as we look for common ground on
community, collaboration, and self-organizing behaviour. The event is
free of charge for all participants. The previous two RecentChangesCamp
events in Portland have been extremely fun and interesting for
participants.

RecentChangesCamp Montreal ("RoCoCoCamp") will be held in Montreal,
Quebec from 18-20 May 2007. It will be a three-day conference with the
agenda set by the participants, using [[Open Space Technology]].
http://www.rocococamp.info/
We hope that RecentChangesCamp Montreal can provide a good "bookend" on
the summer for people organizing or planning to attend Wikimania in
Taipei. I think our "unconference" format is quite complementary to
Wikimania, and that our casual atmosphere makes RCC Montreal a great
place to test out talks or presentations for Wikimania.
If you would like to attend, please sign up on our wiki:
http://www.rocococamp.info/Participants
We're arranging lodging for a variety of budgets (from couch-surfing to
the Hyatt). Travel to Montreal can be quite inexpensive; North Americans
can find reasonable flights, and rail travel from the East Coast is both
accessible and affordable. Europeans on a budget are especially encouraged
to look at discount Transatlantic flyer Zoom Airlines.
Please check out our wiki if you have any questions; also feel free to
contact anyone in our all-volunteer organizing group. You can write to
me directly or call my cell phone (+1-514-554-3826).
Thanks,
-Evan

Hi,
I built up a new page [[Experience Sharing]] on the Wikimania 2007 official
website, and I would like to invite those who had attended past Wikimanias
to share your experience. The maintainer of the website will digest your
sharing and put it on the Main Page. Please read
http://wikimania2007.wikimedia.org/wiki/Experience_Sharing , and then
please write something.
Thanks.

Hi, all,
I have a great news sharing with you. Wikimania organizing team member Alice
( Contacting window to our Patron sponsors, Chunghwa Telecom) is going to
get married this June.
Alice was my classmate when we were in National Taiwan University. She is
now a TOEFL teacher. She helps a lot in communication and negotiation with
Chunghwa Telecom.
There are some bridal photos. Share with you.

This is reminder to register for Wikimania if you are going -- prices
go up this Friday, and it is *very* helpful to the planning team to
have a head count early on, so they know how many beds to reserve.
Help make this a successful conference -- register today!

Hello
Here is the registration message I got.
I think the line Total: * 33 = 5280 is very confusing. I can see no
currency here. I do not know if it is my email system, but I really
think a currency in readable format should be mentionned here. What went
wrong ?

Dear Wikimedians,
I am zh:User:Theodoranian <http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Theodoranian>,
Wikimania 2007 organizer. The registration of Wikimania 2007 has been open
for near one month. Your enthusiastic participation will make this event
successful.
The 3rd edition of Wikimania is from Aug. 3 to Aug. 5 ,2007. We choose Chien
Tan Overseas Youth Activity Center (Taipei City, Taiwan) as the event venue.
Wikimedians from all over the world will get together to know each other, to
exchange opinions in this event. You can imagine that Wikimedia Projects
participators from more than 20 countries learning, conferencing, having
lunch, drinking, and chatting all together. You will meet those Wikimedians
you never met in real life, and you will find you are just like old friends.
This is really a good chance for global partners who share the same vision
and dreams to contact face-to-face. I think Wikimedians will know more about
the similarity and differences between each other via this event. I hope
Wikimania will help Wikimedians getting a closer connection, no matter among
Wikimedia Projects, or among nations/regions.
In this event, many scientists who research Wikimedia community will address
their fruitful results; many wiki technology developers will release their
new inventions; many important participators will share their experience
upon participating Wikimedia Projects. By attending this event, you may have
plentiful harvest on the internet hottest issues: Wiki-culture, wiki-tech,
and free access to knowledge.
Before the main conference, we will hold Hacking Days & Extra (Aug. 1 to
Aug. 2), and also Citizen Journalism Unconference (Aug.2). We will have a
big Wikimania Party in the evening of Aug. 4 at a historical heritage Red
Theater which is a tea-house now. In the party, we can drink beers,
cocktails, Taiwanese tea. Since Red Theater was a movie theater before, the
organizing team are trying to find some Wikimedia related films and will
play them in the Party. After the conference, we also arrange a friendly
tour agent which provides optional 1 to 3 days Taiwanese Cultural Tours
around the island.
Wikimania 2007 organizing team have devoted much time and efforts from last
September. We hope the first held-in-Asia Wikimania will be a good
experience for all attendees. Thanks for assistance from all over the world,
and thank for giving Taiwanese Wikimedians a chance to host. Please register
and come to Taipei to enjoy our hospitality. For more information please see
http://wikimania2007.wikimedia.org/wiki/Registration.
See You in Taipei.
Best Regards,
Theodoranian
