What's important is to remedy mistakes as quickly as possible and to try not to make them again. Of course, there'll be honest disagreement at times about how to do that.

My main concern at this point is that there seems to be a philosophy prevailing that 'the general public just misunderstood what happened, therefore we don't need to actually change anything and it's the public's responsibility to get it straight.' Even if the system really _did_ work wonderfully behind the scenes and this was all just one monumentally dumb or bizarre screwup by one lone admin the fact that the general public refuses to believe that is something we need to find ways to fix.

If what was said is the truth, and is still not believed, where to do go from there as far as an explanation is concerned? And, if we don't find "ways to fix" it, what do you believe will happen?
