Has my support too. It might be possible with some tinkering of scripts to check whether the user is logged in at Commons before directing them over there though. Most people who use the sidebars probably know a little about Wikipedia and perhaps Commons, it's people just arriving to upload a photo they've taken or a free photo they've found we need to deal with, so we're probably needing a more prominent "Free images to Commons" thing in the Wikipedia:Upload page too.
