Not really. It may be of a similar construction, but as to the import, the similarity fails spectacularly in that it is one thing to make the claim that people too timid or shy to face the rough and tumble of a usenet newsgroup are onside with ones cause; and quite another to say the same of people who have convocated on a secluded mailing list for the purposes of reticience to have too much detail of methods and resources spreading out.
I would think that, though the people so convocated may still retain the same reticience to call someone making such a "they support me" claim in public out and disclaim them openly, it would be quite likely and credible that in private, if that were an inaccurate claim, they would freely make their views known to Durova.
