Yes, Ant, exactly. If this project is to be *inclusive*, then everybody who joins has to be brought up to speed.
I have a picture of Danny in my head from Wikimania 2005, but I struggle to recall his surname.
Using first names (or handles or nicknames) only is a method to keep the "in crowd" in, and the "out crowd" excluded.
Actually, Danny is also [[User:Danny]], and he makes it clear who he is on his userpage(s). So I don't think using his first name is intended to keep anyone out at all; unless you want to say "Danny Wool, Wikimedia Foundation staff" every time you refer to him I think that's the clearest way to refer to him among Wikimedians.

Point taken. But the match between "Danny at the office" and [[User:Danny]] has to be assumed by a newbie. Here the start of the current entry at

Hi
Welcome to my page. I've been a Wikipedian for a while now. I have recently been asked to help coordinate the Wikimedia Foundation Grants Committee. For more information and ideas about how you can help, please see Grants.
About me: I now live in St. Petersburg, Florida, and work fulltime for the Wikimedia Foundation, helping Jimbo out where I can. In the past, I have worked overseas in various media, including print, film, and television. In fact, I still do some odd film work, which I enjoy immensely.

And by the same token Jimbo, Danny, SJ, Angela, Eloquence, Athere... we all know who they are.
