WinAVI will do what he needs it to do (converts SWF to AVI). I've tested
it with a few videos from Youtube (that are *.flv, it works with *.flv as
well).
Again, I offered to do it for him, so I don't see what all the fuss is
about.

He'd need them either as animated GIFs or as Ogg/Theora.
(Animated gifs work inline, but stink for anything with many colors) :)
