Heh, you mean if there's a flaw, such as a scratch, in the
photocopying process, copyright could reside in the flaw? :)
No; rather my point was that by attempting to minimise differences
between your copy and the original, you were explicitly trying NOT to
have creative additions.
However, a copy that was artistic (distorted, etc. deliberately) might
establish new copyright.
