For what it's worth, I support JTDirl as a sysop. I don't think that JTD was being rude to FB on his page, I think that perhaps FB isn't looking at it in the same light that it was intended.
I also support administrator status for JTD, unreservedly. I don't always agree with him, but the same goes for other admins, from Jimmy Wales to The Cunctator to Fred Bauder. OK, Jimbo is more polite than JTD -- but not all sysops are!
The note on [[User:Fred Bauder]] that Fred pointed out to us is in fact very good reason for supporting JTD's promotion -- it demonstrates how Fred's personal feelings about JTD colour his reaction to everything that JTD writes. The post was in fact a model of civil behaviour.
On a side note, even if it WAS rude, if ever being rude was a valid reason to deny someone sysop status, then a WHOLE bunch of sysops are in SERIOUS trouble. lol (laughing out loud, remember? You DID go read [[leet]], didn't you?)
Yes, I checked to see if it had any indication why "lol" always means "laughing out loud", never "lots of luck", even in a post that makes much more sense the latter way. As it turns out, [[Leet]] says nothing about "lol" at all.
In your case, however, I agree that it means "laughing out loud". ^_^
