Fine, Mike. Good idea. And I'm not complaining. This is like a
surprise party, a family reunion.
And, as Sarah P would say, a big SHOUT OUT to all you Shakespurs out
there doin' yer good thing to keep this ride going in the right
direction for wherever we're headin'. God bless you and God bless
that great American, Bill Shakespeare!

Ernie, it's true that any response to the list
will go to everyone
on it -- at least for right now. In the longer term, I can set the
default so that anyone who responds to a list posting sends email
directly to the poster and not to the list. I'll rely on list
members to tell me when to do that.
In the short term, you can probably set your email client to filter
mails from "Winedale-l" into a particular folder or mailbox to read
at your convenience (and they'll be segregated from your regular
mail).
If/when I reset the defaults, people will need expressly to type
the "winedale-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org" address to send mail to the
entire list.
My suggestion is that, starting out, we leave the defaults as they
are, to make sure everyone gets in contact with everyone else and
then after a week or two set them so that nobody emails to the list
unless he or she deliberately chooses to do so.

Dear Mike,
We all owe you a debt of gratitude for getting this thing going. So
far, I've seen several familiar names pop up out of my distant
past: Mary Collins, Alice Gordon (and I just heard from Carl
Smith). I've also seen emails from many unfamiliar names, but
anyone who's strutted and fretted the sawdust at Winedale is
already a friend and colleague.
I've bookmarked your email archive for future reference. However,
Mary's brought up a good point. Are we all going to be in constant
contact with each other every time one of us replies to this list?
Speaking for myself, my inbox is crammed enough as it is.

Hi, Mike,
a clarification: I have assumed that the master list means that I
don't need to save all the individual email addresses on my
own...is that right? I have been deleting them after reading them,
as you are collecting them....izzat ok?
Thx
Mary

Just a note to folks:
I'm having this list archived, so if you think you've missed a
list message or have mistakenly deleted one, you should be able to
find old messages here:
