> I am attaching a video of Doc’s Birthday my partner Sergio put together from the tape taken at the party. There are a couple of repeat scenes from prior videos, notably the “Cookoo” song, but that performance deserves an encore and a loud “Bravo!” I wish I could say the jittery nature of the video was my intent to achieve the hand held effect of cinema verite’, or that I was trembling with excitement while taping, but it was just poor technique on my part. Sergio did the best he could with what he had.

> I must add, if I may, the girls of summer, 1975, Terry, Alice, Laura, and Carol, are still quite the lovelies.😍

> I stopped by Winedale this past Saturday for the Festival of Play, with performances by Clayton’s students from the Shakespeare at Winedale Outreach program. Besides being another glorious spring day in the country, (the wildflowers were really special,) it was a great chance to see what Clayton has done with these youngsters. It was a real treat and the program is really a worthy one. I must admit I have never seen so many people crowded into the barn in 30+ years. There were no seats left when I arrived and many people setting up chairs outside the windows. Completely SRO. I had to leave after intermission, but it was good seeing the kids doing scenes from Romeo, The Tempest, and Merchant. Heavy fare for ones so young. I became just a bit nostalgic seeing the maypole going up under Doc’s watchful eye.
> Strong work, Clayton and his able students.

This Camp Shakespeare summer the kids will be taking on Love's Labors
Lost and Hamlet. Verbal agony and unhappy endings. But great kids!
All of them write that they are eager to begin, even while they have
another month or so in school. Robin Grace (Associate Director) and I
expect nothing but great work from the two groups. We hope that you
will join us for one (or even two) of their final performances.
But I'm also hoping that you will consider a gift to Camp Shakespeare
again this year....in the event you have not done so already. At my
birthday celebration (it was indeed!) many former students contributed
to the Camp Shakespeare Endowment in my name (founded by our own Jayne
Suhler and her husband). And several gave toward out 2013 operating
account. Thanks to all of those.
You have the opportunity to join them in making Camp Shakespeare 13
go. Please give kind consideration to that. You may make your check
"to" The University of Texas, mark it "for" Camp Shakespeare, and send
it to me at PO Box 202, Round Top, Tx, 78954.
Robin and I hope to see you this summer to watch the miracles these
kids create.
Thanks and cheers,
Doc
Hey everyone --
The 2013 Festival of Play kicks off at noon this Saturday, April 27th, in the Barn with two hours + of performances by student participants in the Shakespeare at Winedale Outreach program. A family-friendly Eeyore's Birthday Party with maypole, games, and cakewalks will follow at about 2:15 p.m. and continue until about 3:30 p.m.. All is free and open to the public, though seating is pretty much standing-room-only in the Barn for this event.
Then the spring class will perform "All's Well that Ends Well" at 7 p.m..
Hope to see some of you out there. If you're coming for the evening play, come early for a picnic, squeeze into the Barn (packed with students, parents and teachers, but they'd love to share their work with you!) and catch some moments from 12th Night, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Hamlet, Midsummer, and the Merchant of Venice!
Cheers,
cs

I am going to try this again since the last attempt failed.
Here is a short video of the birthday celebration put together by my partner Sergio. As I mentioned before, there are some repetitions of prior clips as well as some new ones. The link is below.
