It gets me a domain-parking page with lots of pay-per-click pseudo- search/portal links... the sort of thing an awful lot of URLs get to these days. I wouldn't use the term "evil" for this, but certainly it's an annoyance.

Heh, I knew I should have checked the URL. I actually just meant the fact that http://.... urls are automatically linked from Wikipedia. My question was, is that behaviour necessary?
