On the assumption that this is your first offence (you have not been blocked before, at least), I would not have blocked you simply for that. However, since your block has now expired, there's really nothing I can do about that except to ask Cyde to be more receptive to the idea of warning people first (which I shall do). In short: you're both wrong, but you're more wrong than he is. I'll be speaking to him about the block, but you will find yourself on the receiving end of many more blocks from many different admins if you don't pull your head in and work on being a bit more civil.
