It's a very nice and congratulatory article, but someone needs to tell the author that Wikipedia is a proper noun, and as such deserving of a capital W.
I've left a message on the BBC News site's "Feedback Form". Others might do so as well, to make sure that my single message doesn't get overlooked.

Why? Wikipedia just might have more power as a non-proprietary generic term... Some may call it "tissue" but a lot of us just call it "kleenex" - wether we know how to spell it or not.
"The wikipedia" translates fairly well as "The wiki encyclopedia" - the Emphasis is on The, not the W...

We do not want Wikipedia to become an English word describing wiki encyclopedias in general. Contrary to popular belief, becoming an actual word (like Kleenex, Xerox, and uncountably many more) is bad for the popularity of the original.
If "wikipedia" were to become a word, people would (unconsciously) think: "Hm... Wikinfo is a wikipedia, Disinfopedia is a wikipedia, and OpenFacts is also a wikipedia." The word "Wikipedia" would lose its association with a particular, concrete thing.

In order to ensure the idea of this "The" sticks, we need to make is clear that it is a proper noun.

I believe better examples would be aspirin and zipper.

As an old-time socialist, I believe that social justice will come from the freely made choices of us all, and even though I am in favour of government and the rule of law, the legitimacy of that government comes only from the people.
That means having political systems built around collective action, participation and respect for each other's views and values.
Wikis, like the old Left Book Club, the Workers' Educational Association and the trade union movement, show what that collective action can achieve when it is based on trust and shared interest.
When I am overwhelmed with despair by the spammers and the scammers, they give me hope.
When "old-time socialists" and libertairian capitalists start singing the same hymn, watch out world!
