As the blocking admin ... I think that any admin who would see [[User:Privatemusings]] and unblock has, um, bulletproof assumption of good faith.

I trust that you all saw my post on this issue, that clarified why Private Musings was in all of this trouble, that it was all a set up by a Wikipedia Review member named Kato.

User:Petesmiles? I wonder how anyone came to that conclusion. Anyway, a righteous block, for all sorts of reasons.

Yeah, I agree with Fred, the user seemed more bother than they were worth (and I mean that in the nicest possible way)

What would you guys say if he said he'd abandon his other accounts and just start a over with only one account?

I only blocked Privatemusings and flagged the others. I have no idea if any of the others are unblocked.
If the person behind the accounts wants to sincerely show they can write an encyclopedia, then hey, why not. That's what we're after. Staying out of Wikipedia: page space as absolutely much as possible is a good idea as well - to do what one can in article and talk pages. (Advice for all of us, I suspect.)

Why not just go back to the original one? At this point I don't see what is gained by starting yet another account.

*cough* "Trust but verify." "Enough rope." It's not technically possible to thoroughly block people, as the sockpuppet hordes show, so soft security is actually required by the open environment.

Privatemusings promised once before, without prompting, to stick to one account and then he posted under one of his old accounts two days later.

Presumably people like this can still edit anonymously, so some months from now, when they want to show us all the amazing work they've done while anonymous, we should take a look.

Yes, a righteous block. Pity someone unblocked, really.

He spoke up from the one account which was left unblocked and said "I'd really rather use that one than this one".
If you intended to block them all, you should have done that...
I think we have plenty of precedent for letting people who are being restricted to one account pick which one they want to use going forwards.

My apologies, I didn't check who'd done it before posting, and I spent yesterday head-down in a thorny political problem, a large technical test plan and some assorted shell scripts, and the E8 lattice. I saw the block/unblock but don't recall who did it, and mis-read your comment.

No problem. For the record, I think Privatemusings is a drama-only account and of strictly limited value to the project, but I won't be the one blocking him.
