Best way to deal with a hazardous article is to knock it down to the bare minimum "X (b.1965) is a guy from Y who was convicted of Z(citation)" and then build it back up, referencing each addition.
(Personally, I don't see why we need the article, but...)

It could be expanded to include the evidence presented and the defenses raised. It would be inappropriate to identify the mother or the child.
